One of North America’s largest snack food manufacturers was making preemptive replacements to conveyor chain that cost the company more than $43,000 a year. As a preventative measure to combat the tough wear of oil and fryer discharge, they were replacing a hot corn-chip conveyor chain every three months. Rexnord replaced the customer’s modular plastic conveyor chain with a Rexnord MatTop Fryer Temperature-resistant Chain, which lasted 12 times longer than the previous chain after three years. Since installing the Rexnord solution, the customer experienced dramatic savings in the acquisition and installation costs as a result of the longer life expectancy, and reduced their annual budget for the application by 88 percent.
One of the largest paper producers, exporters and recyclers in South America chose Rexnord Welded Steel Chain for providing innovative solutions to wear life and reliability issues they were having. The Rexnord team listened to the customer’s needs for a unique, non-standard application, and ultimately came up with a customized solution to fit their needs. The recommendation was to use Rexnord Welded Steel Chain with high-alloy material associated with surface heat treatment, where the goal was to reduce surface wear. The high-alloy chain provided more reliability and resulted in around 40 percent more wear life. Offering unique solutions to this company’s particular application issues around material and heat treatment resulted in more wear life and reliability for the customer’s equipment.
A power plant had been installing split-block bearings that often broke down due to contaminants and took several hours to install. Rexnord proposed replacing the bearings with Rexnord SHURLOK bearings, which visually indicate when the bearing is perfectly installed with a Spyglass Optical Strain Sensor. It also eliminated the contamination risks with its one-piece housing, and had factory-preset clearances that greatly reduced installation time. Since installing the Rexnord SHURLOK Bearings, the customer reduced its downtime due to installation by over 60 percent.
A major gold mining producer was using gear reducers on their shuttle conveyors operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. This continuous high demand caused unplanned downtime every 6-12 months for replacements, and costs excessing more than $70,000 a year. Rexnord replaced three of the producer’s gear reducers with Falk Quadrive Shaft-Mounted Reducers, reducing their total cost of ownership by 98 percent, and eliminated product failures and instances of unscheduled downtime.
