Play time for children is especially important in their formative years and provides a healthy and balanced lifestyle, but due to current societal circumstances, they are playing less. This insight led our Rexnord community partner Jante Beton, a social services organization in the Netherlands, to develop the campaign “Never Stop Playing!”
As part of the campaign, our Netherlands associates volunteered time in September 2020 to convert two unused roads into a modernized and safe playground for children. No cars were allowed, and over 20 different outside games were set up for children. While social distancing measures may be currently in effect, the playground will be a great resource for children once it’s safe to congregate again.
“In a more digital world, playing outside to me is very important to create a balance,” says Rick van den Berg, Vice President of Vertical Markets, Rexnord. ”Turning a road into a large playground and being able to help and be part of this initiatives with a group of passionate Rexnord colleagues was time well spent. Together we make it work! The day was a success and in the current world of COVID-19 restrictions we will continue to find safe ways to support and engage in our local communities.”
In Monterrey, 120 of our bearings plant team members participated in a community service day with the children from Centro de Rehabilitación y Terapias Ecuestres A.C. (HOGA), an institution that provides horse therapy to kids and young adults. Our associates collaborated with the kids by working on recreational exercise, art projects, interaction with animals and teamwork activities. Thanks to the generous efforts of our Rexnord associates, a Monterrey donation was delivered to HOGA equivalent to 140 therapy sessions for children with special needs.
